PostHeaderIcon How not to worry: as a guide not to worry and how to stop sweating the small stuff

People with anxiety issues are known as the “worry warts” of society. It often seems like they focus on superficial aspects of their life…things that most people wouldn’t care to worry about. They may worry about their kids, their appearance, what their neighbors think of them, or what their co-workers may say behind their backs.

It seems like most people worry about things that have foundation in reality. They may worry about not getting a promotion at work, while the worry wart will worry about getting fired or demoted when they haven’t done anything to deserve getting fired or demoted.

Most people worry about their children getting good grades, getting into the right schools after graduation, marrying a significant other the parent can tolerate..etc. Worry warts worry their child will get kidnapped at the bus stop, even if they know they live in the safest neighborhood in the county. They will worry their kids will abuse drugs, even if their kids have shown no signs of going that route.

Most people generally do not worry about their health if all signs point to being healthy. Worry warts may become hypochondriacs and constantly stress about their health. They believe the slightest pain or symptom is without a doubt pointing at some terrible illness, usually one that is terminal. The worry wart then begins to dread and actively seek more symptoms to prove to themselves that this newly discovered disease is real. Then when their doctors tell them nothing is wrong, the worry wart will believe something in the testing procedure went bad. They will believe they are still sick and opt for a second opinion.

How not to worry:

What the worry wart must realize is that oftentimes their inappropriate and exaggerated beliefs severely cut into their quality of life. They have to come to an understanding and assurance that all is okay. They must understand that appreciating what you have in life is more important than the time wasted through worry. They must realize that how to appreciate what you have goes hand in hand with how not to worry. In other words if one desperately wanted to know how not to worry, they must look around their lives and learn to love and appreciate what is being thrown at them from life. I guarantee the fastest escape from worry is appreciation. It changes focus from bad to good.

This is a conclusion that I had come to after years of being a worry wart. This is pretty much “top secret” information that no one talks about. Most of the literature on worry is done by psychologists who never had an anxiety issue. The research was done on people who worry, yet they themselves have no clue what it is like. I was in constant dread and anxiety. The concept of appreciation is something I got from reading the best method for curing anxiety and panic attacks. These are methods that the top academics are pretty much clueless about.

PostHeaderIcon Lower Blood Pressure Fast The Safe Effective Way

If you have recently been diagnosed with hypertension you have a decision to make that will shape how you live the rest of your life.  If you want to cure your condition, then you’ll want to know how to lower blood pressure fast naturally.  If however, you decide to treat your condition with medication, you have to understand drugs come with side effects, expense and you’ll be on it the rest of your life.

Let’s see.  Lower blood pressure quickly and naturally, or spend the rest of your life popping pills that make you sick.  Which one sounds more attractive to you?

I thought so.

A natural remedy is a whole body remedy and there isn’t enough room here to go into all of it but I’ll give you a few ideas of what it entails.  The first question on your mind probably is:

How can I lower my blood pressure fast?

And the best answer to that question is to lace up your sneakers and spend at least 30 minutes a day doing mild aerobic exercise like biking or even a brisk walk.  The idea is to get the heart rate up and the blood pumping.  This will actually elevate your pressure while you are exercising but then it will drop and remain below where you started for up to 22 hours.  The longer you stick at this the lower it will drop.

The next quick fix is to hydrate.  Water flushes out salt and also encourages the blood vessels to relax.  If you can loosen the blood vessels you reduce the pressure.  Drink at least half your body weight expressed in ounces each day.  For example if you weigh 180 pounds then you need to drink 90 ounces or about eleven glasses daily.

Get some soothing music or do some deep breathing exercises or whatever it takes to get a full night’s sleep.  Stress is a major contributor to hypertension and sleep is nature’s best way of dealing with it.  Exercise also helps out here as it burns off adrenaline and cortisol; two stress related hormones that tend to linger in the body when stress is not managed.

Lastly is diet.  This is a huge part of a natural cure but seeing how we are only talking quick fixes here this is what you should do.  Take the time to eat a healthy breakfast of cereal, fruit and 2% milk.  Throw in a piece of whole wheat toast.  Have a cup of coffee.  Not only is this way more healthy than that donut, or bagel, or breakfast sandwich you normally grab on the way to work, but it is more filling and satisfying as well.  Take a bag of almonds with you to work.  Eat a handful before lunch and again as a snack.  Great good fatty acids and fiber and it fills you up.  It goes without saying, avoid salt.

That’s the way to lower blood pressure fast.  To keep it down and to fully reverse the disease requires a more complex plan but one that is easy to follow.  Taking medication is passive.  You’re relying on a drug to keep you safe.  Treating your condition naturally is taking charge of your life with the end goal of being totally free of high blood pressure and all the risks that come with it.

PostHeaderIcon The Simplest Potty Learning Tips You Can Use

It can be a frustrating experience to try and potty train a child. Sure, there are some lucky parents out there who just seem to have toddlers that potty train with no trouble at all. It’s unfortunate, but most of us just aren’t that lucky! Getting the right advice can help to ensure that this is a smooth process.

Potty training readiness is key. A big clue is when they are able to tell you that they need to use the potty. They should also be able to follow simple commands from you. Some children are not ready as soon as other children — don’t stress if yours is going to be a little older than most! Some train as early as 1.5 while others might need to be trained when they are 3 years old. Boys can sometimes take longer to learn to use the potty than girls!

You can get started once you are sure your little one is ready. There are a variety of different methods you can choose between. Some recommend having a “naked potty bootcamp” where you let your child stay nude so they can more easily recognize when they need to go potty. They won’t be able to rely on a diaper to capture the wetness for them!

There are even some methods out there that recommend having a party for your child. This is a “potty party” where they graduate and no longer need to use their diapers. This works well for some children.

You really have to focus on the personality of your toddler. Investigate your options and choose the one that will work best for your family. Most families do well with a potty training doll, because it offers an excellent learning opportunity. Your toddler can act as a teacher toward the doll, and learn themselves along the way.

The point here is that there are many different secrets when it comes to potty training, but what works well for one might not necessarily work well for another. You can do your child a great service if you pay attention to their cues and personality style before settling on a method for potty training.

PostHeaderIcon Baby colic: What parents can do to handle the stress of colic

Your baby is crying and will not stop. Every night it’s the same thing. Your baby draws its legs up to its tummy and screams, for hours. You’re giving plenty of comfort and love but nothing helps. This is a sign of colic. While not dangerous, it is a nightmare to deal with. What can you do?

First of all, there is no known cause or cure for colic. It appears at 2-4 weeks of age and lasts for up to 3 months, sometimes longer.

Some symptoms are:

Continuous crying, usually more frequently at night.

The crying starts about the same time every night.

Your baby refuses to eat.

Your baby draws up his or her legs towards the stomach and passes gas.

Colic is not a serious issue to your baby’s health, but can be treated and dealt with to minimize discomfort for both your baby and yourself.

Bottle fed babies and breast fed babies both get colic, none more than the other, but it has been proven that babies of smoking mothers are two times more likely to get colic than those who do not.

If your baby is bottle fed, try changing the formula that you use. You may need to try a soy based formula as well. Make sure that you use the new formula long enough for it to take effect.

If your baby is breast fed, try changing your diet. Do not eat spicy foods such as peppers and onions. Read the rest of this entry »

PostHeaderIcon Post Partum Stress Survival Tips for New Moms After Having a Baby

Post partum is part of pregnancy. It is the 6 to 8 weeks after having a baby. For a new mom These weeks can be a very stressful, challenging and confusing for new moms. Read on for great post partum stress survival tips to make this precious new mother/child transitional period less stressful, less traumatic, easier and more enjoyable for you and your new baby.

As a midwife I put a lot of thought and effort into my pregnancy and birthing experience. My first son was born at home in a birthing pool surrounded by people I loved. But none of my midwifery knowledge prepared me for the first few weeks after having a baby. For me the post partum part of pregnancy was very stressful and physically challenging. I had a long labor; every part of my body hurt and physically I felt like a truck had ran over me. I share with you some post partum stress reducing survival tips that made the end of my second pregnancy more enjoyable.

Arrange help for the household chores.

Stock your freezer with pre-cooked meals.

Schedule chiropractic adjustments during the first week post partum.

Have a good supply of large sanitary napkins and adult diapers in your hospital bag and at home.

Sleep when your baby sleeps.

Don’t be afraid to cry (and don’t worry about it).

Supplement with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that are breast-feeding safe.

Every organ and system in your body is under a lot of physical stress post partum as they attempt to return to their normal non pregnancy state. High quality vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that are safe for breast-feeding will provide the foundation to prevent post partum complications and result in an overall a better pregnancy experience.Pregnancy, childbirth and post partum results in changing levels of hormones.

After childbirth there is a rapid decrease in hormones that occurs approximately on the third, fifth and tenth day. These hormone adjustments can be emotionally challenging for the mother. You may cry for no apparent reason so let it out and know this is all part of a normal pregnancy post partum. As a new mom post partum be prepared to be exhausted. Take every opportunity to sleep whenever your baby sleeps.I am not kidding!

After pregnancy new moms will experience very heavy vaginal bleeding post partum and regular sanitary towels will not do the job. Most hospitals give new moms cheap sanitary towels post partum. This will also save your bed linen from been destroyed.

Pregnancy and childbirth moves many of your pelvic bones out of alignment (even if you have a cesarean section birth). Use the expertise of your chiropractor to realign your pelvis, hips and back. This will definitely reduce post partum stress and expedite your post partum recovery.New moms get hungry at odd hours and it is not unusual to be too tired to cook. Believe me; you will be too exhausted to keep up with everything post partum. Don’t be afraid to ask for help during your pregnancy or request maid cleaning gift certificates as a great baby shower gift that can be used after having a baby.

Having a new baby is a wonderful time in a woman’s life. Knowing the above plan ahead and think of ways to support yourself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually ahead of time before you are all consumed with your new baby. I am a great believer in the internal health of the body for optimum health and reducing stress. I highly recommend all pregnant and new moms take a product called mangosteen and mineral. It gives you body all the vitamins and minerals it needs to cope with pregnancy and post partum stress. For more information view http://www.PregnancySuccessCoach.com

PostHeaderIcon Potty Training Boys – The Epic Battle Between Toddler and Toilet

Comments (0)

The time has come. You’ve had it with overpriced Cookie Monster diapers and you can’t deal with the smell for one more day. You’ve decided that this morning, little Johnny will start potty training and learn how to use the bathroom like a big boy. How hard can it really be? You’ll ask him if he needs to go potty, he will say yes, run to the bathroom, and all will be right with the world. Later that night, your status on Facebook will read, “Wow, this potty training thing is easy!”

Unfortunately this isn’t reality. For many, toilet training is an extremely frustrating and time consuming process. You envision a cooperative effort between you and your child, but instead your son draws a line in the sand and begins a potty training war. Sound familiar?

Most of these problems are caused by one thing: failure to adequately prepare. As with most things in life, it’s a good idea to analyze the situation and formulate a plan before you begin. Jumping in blindly, with no goals or purpose, only sets you up for failure.

That being said, you don’t need to spend weeks or months preparing. You just need to complete a few simple steps:

1. Determine If Your Child Is Ready To Begin Potty Training

This is the most important factor to consider. If your child is not ready both physically and emotionally, the process will be a lot more difficult than it needs to be.

2. Teach Him The Process

Before the potty training process begins, teach him about the bathroom and more specifically, the toilet. Books and videos are very effective, along with watching daddy (a boy can obviously relate better to daddy than mommy).

3. Purchase A Potty Chair

Full size toilets (and even adapter seats) can be scary to a child just learning. Keep it simple and get a potty chair. You will be glad that you did.

If you’re tired of dealing with the stress and frustrations that go along with potty training boys, learn step-by-step how to remedy the problem by Clicking Here.

PostHeaderIcon Guide to Choosing a Cotbed – orthodontics

Cotbeds can be used from birth until your child is around five or six years old meaning that you don’t have to buy a basket, cot or toddler bed. The other main advantage is that they can make the often traumatic switch from cot to toddler bed stress-free as modification to their existing bed is all that is required rather than moving them to a completely new bed. As with nearly every other baby product you are going to find that there is no shortage of choice, options, or styles, so a little research is going to go a long way to ensure sure that you get the one that is right for you and your baby.
Initially your baby is going to be spending most of his day in his cotbed so it is not a purchase that you can take lightly. This item of furniture is also designed to be used for a number of years and so along with the safety aspects you need to consider the style and ‘fit’ with your home decor.

Adjustable Mattress Positions
It is important that you can adjust the mattress height as your baby grows. You should be looking for a cotbed that has 2 or 3 different settings for the mattress height. With a newborn baby you will want the top position as this provides you with the easiest access to your baby. Once your baby starts to push up onto their hands and knees unaided you will need to move the base down for additional safety. When the base is on the lowest setting the sides of the cotbed need to be at least 50cm above the mattress.

Dropsides or Fixed Sides
This is mostly a personal decision but if you should be particularly petite or have a back condition then a dropside cotbed can be beneficial and desirable. If you choose a dropside get one with a one-handed operation that is simple to use with latches that cannot be reached by your child.

Cotbed Mattress
Ventilation is vital as it is important that there is a constant flow of air around your baby’s head. A system for ventilation in the mid as well as the head section of the mattress is ideally what you will require, especially as you should be putting your baby to sleep in the ‘feet to foot’ position. It is also important that you get a mattress that fits snugly into the cotbed. If you push the mattress to the side of the cot then there should not be more than a 4cm gap to the side railings. A good idea when choosing a mattress is to find one that has removable and reversible covers along with a a surface that can be wiped clean. You should also note that you will need to purchase cotbed bedding and not bedding designed for cots otherwise it will not fit.

Rails for orthodonticsing
When a baby begins orthodonticsing it is natural for them to chew on the edges of their cot. If a cotbed has orthodonticsing rails then these will not only protect your babys orthodontics but they will also prevent damage to the cot sides.

Spacing of Slats
Babies are inquisitive and have no problems getting stuck in gaps and holes so you need to pay attention to the distance between the spaces of the slats. Within the UK the recommendation is that the spaces between the slats in the railings should be between 45-65mm and in the mattress base less than 60mm wide.

Finish and Build Quality
Make sure you choose a sturdy cotbed. If you put together the cotbed yourself then check that all of the nuts, bolts and fittings are present and that they are securely fastened when in place. If corner posts are present they must not be higher than 1.5mm and any cotbed that has splintered wood or sharp edges should be avoided. Any finishes that have been applied to the cotbed should be non lead based and be non toxic.
